AUS-W vs ENG-W 3rd ODI Match Report

Australia women's cricket team have won the last and final ODI against England by 86 runs on Friday in Hobart to win the series 3-0. In the process, they had the best possible start to the Women's Ashes series as opposed to their counterparts.

Australia were 2-0 up heading into the third ODI in Hobart. After two dominating performances, they came up with another performance of note. A cumulative batting and bowling effort saw them rout the England women's side.

Australia skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat first in Hobart. They did not have a good start with the top three dismissed in the first 10 overs. Beth Mooney then scored 50 and brought the innings back on track. She along with all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner (102) took the team from 59/4 to 154/5 adding a 95-run stand. Tahlia McGrath (55) and Georgia Wareham (38) also played key knocks with the bat to help the Aussies reach 308/8 in their 50 overs. The batting performance was an example of the batting depth that the side possess.

Australia Too Good For England In ODIS

For England, almost all the bowlers proved expensive with Lauran Bell, Nat Sciver Brunt and Charlie Dean picking two wickets each. In their response with the bat, the visitors were below par getting bowled out for 222 in less than 45 overs.

Opener Tammy Beaumont scored 54 with Nat Sciver Brunt (61), Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (35) and wicketkeeper Amy Jones (30) scoring runs. As many as five England batters scored in single digits. There were hardly any contributions from the lower-order which denied England a chance to pull one back. For Australia, Alana King took 5/46 finishing with 11 wickets in the series

Australia, thus whitewashed England in the ODI series getting almost the perfect start for the home series. Both teams play a three-match T20I series now followed by the Women's Ashes Test in Melbourne from January 30-February 2.

"Great to get a hundred. Will probably sink in a little later today. Great to contribute and get the win. I haven’t scored too many centuries throughout my life so to do it for my country was special. Then to see my teammates come out and play like that, was so nice to get to that milestone and it was pretty emotional" said Ash Gardner who was named the Player Of The Match for her century.
