India’s impressive run in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup has brought major changes to the latest ICC T20I rankings, with all-rounder Deepti Sharma and opener Shafali Verma making notable gains after their strong performances in the tournament.
Deepti Sharma Makes a Big Jump
Deepti Sharma has moved up four places to No. 2 in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings. The Indian all-rounder played a key role in India’s successful Asia Cup campaign, finishing the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets.
Her consistent performances with the ball proved crucial as India went on to lift the Asia Cup title after a dominant campaign.
India’s left-arm spinner N Shree Charani continues to hold the top position in the bowling rankings. She has now reached a career-best **804 rating points**, setting a new record for an Indian player.
Charani’s tally has surpassed the previous Indian record of 780 points, held by Mithali Raj in 2011. She is now just two points away from matching Megan Schutt’s record of 806 points, which the Australian achieved in 2018.
Shafali Verma Also Rises in Batting Rankings
Shafali Verma has also benefited from her outstanding Asia Cup performance, moving up one place to sixth in the T20I batting rankings.
The aggressive opener finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, accumulating 236 runs. She also recorded three half-centuries and maintained an impressive strike rate of 171.01, underlining her impact at the top of India’s batting order.
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana remains fifth in the batting rankings. There are currently just four rating points separating Mandhana and Shafali, making the battle between the two Indian openers an interesting one in the upcoming matches.
India Seal Eighth Asia Cup Title
India capped off their successful campaign by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The victory helped India secure their eighth Asia Cup title, further strengthening their dominance in the tournament.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu also made an impact in the rankings. She retained her third position among the T20I all-rounders while climbing to 27th in the bowling rankings.
Athapaththu’s standout performance came against Indonesia, where she picked up seven wickets while conceding just five runs.
With several Indian players making significant progress in the latest rankings, the Asia Cup victory has provided another major boost to India’s position in women’s T20I cricket.
