India defeated England by 336 runs at Edgbaston drawing the five-match series 1-1 after the first two Test matches. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep delivered for India in Jasprit Bumrah's absence.
All the talk ahead of the Test match was about how India can cope with the absence of Bumrah. On the other hand, Siraj and Akash Deep took the England batters totally by surprise.
Mohammed Siraj took a five-wicket haul in the first innings and finished with seven in the match. Akash Deep took a six-fer in the second innings and finished with 10 wickets in the match.

Was Telling Him To Put It In One Place - Siraj On Akash Deep
Mohammed Siraj after India's win at Edgbaston spoke about how he was constantly helping Akash Deep in the second innings. It was Siraj who started it all for India in the second innings with the wicket of Zak Crawley. Akash Deep then came back with wickets of Ben Duckett and Joe Root in the final session of play on day 4 to give India a huge opening.
"As a player, it's great to create history. Whenever he (Akash Deep) was bowling, I was at mid-off guiding him. I used to tell him not to go for wickets—just put it in one place and you'll get wickets. Like I said in the first innings, if it's in his destiny, he'll get a fifer" said Siraj.
India's Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant who played a key role in India's win said that the job was not done when India last played at the venue and with this win the mission was accomplished.
"Last time we came here, the task was incomplete at Edgbaston. This time, I am so happy that we were able to achieve it. He added that the team was focused on defying past outcomes and not letting history define them" said Pant.
