Punjab Kings (PBKS) will lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 69th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) scheduled at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 26.
While Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians have already qualified for the playoffs, they are now fighting for a top-two finish. PBKS are currently placed at second position on the IPL 2025 points table with 17 points after 13 matches. MI have won eight out of their 13 games and occupy the fourth spot.
The team that comes out on top in Jaipur tonight will book a place in Qualifier 1, giving themselves a golden opportunity to have two cracks at reaching the final. For the loser, it is going to be a long road through the Eliminator.
Punjab Kings have surprised many this season with their performance. Led by Shreyas Iyer, the Kings have had a few hiccups here and there, but it has been a smooth journey for them so far. They bat deep and have enough firepower in their lineup.
The opening duo of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya has been impressive. Iyer, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh have been equally good, doing what is required from them. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen have taken care of the pace-bowling, while the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar have also performed well on different occasions.
Mumbai Indians are a team that is peaking at the right time. The Hardik Pandya-led side has won seven of their previous eight matches. Suryakumar Yadav has been their saviour, having scored 583 runs in the season so far. Their bowling unit, comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner, has also started to click.
MI confirmed their playoff berth after defeating DC by 59 runs.
