Record Alert! Ravindra Jadeja Became the only Indian Spinner to achieve this Feat

Summary

Ravindra Jadeja makes history as the first Indian spinner and only the 6th all-rounder in cricket history to achieve the remarkable feat of 6000 international runs and 600 wickets.

Jadeja! Milestone

India’s ace all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, made history by becoming the first Indian spinner to achieve the remarkable milestone of 600 wickets and 6,000 runs during the match against England. This outstanding accomplishment highlights Jadeja's prominence in the all-rounder department across all formats of the game.

One Among the Best

In the first ODI against England, Jadeja took three crucial wickets, dismissing Joe Root, Jacob Bethell, and Adil Rashid. Known for his ability to turn matches with his wicket-taking skills, Jadeja's performance was pivotal in restricting England's scoring.

He dismissed the in-form Joe Root, who had just returned from a successful SA20 season in South Africa, and then took out Jacob Bethell, who scored a fifty and was looking to accelerate the innings; Jadeja got him out for 51 runs off 64 balls.

He later cleared the tail by taking the wicket of Adil Rashid, which also marked his 600th wicket, making him the first Indian spinner to achieve this feat. Overall, he became the sixth all-rounder and the second Indian, after Kapil Dev, to reach this milestone. It was truly a "Sir Jadeja Moment."

India Leads 1-0 in the Series

The first ODI was an action-packed match, with India winning comfortably and taking a 1-0 lead in the series. England got off to a fast start, with Phil Salt smashing 26 runs off Harshit Rana’s over. However, Rana bounced back quickly, taking two wickets to put England on the back foot. The English innings then progressed slowly, with fifties from Jacob Bethell and captain Jos Buttler helping them reach a total of 248 runs in 50 overs.

Chasing this below-par total, India lost their openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, early in the innings. It was then the "Shreyas Iyer Show," as he played a key role while Shubman Gill anchored the innings. Shreyas's strong start set the foundation for India to comfortably chase down the target, supported by fifties from Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Player of the Match Shubman Gill. This led India to victory in the first game at Nagpur.
