Vidarbha has taken a big advantage in their semi-final game against Mumbai in the Ranji-Trophy semi-final. They have taken their lead forward by 340 runs at lunch on day 2.
Vidarbha ended day three on 147/4 in 53.0 overs. The next morning on day 4, Yash Rathod who was batting on unbeaten 59 on day 3 has completed his hundred in the first session.
Rathod is currently unbeaten on 110 along with skipper Akshay Wadkar scoring 52 of 202 balls. Since the loss of Dhruv Shorey with Vidarbha on 56/4 the duo added 158 runs for the fifth wicket. Vidarbha lost the wickets of Akshay Wadkar and Harsh Dubey in quick succession after the stand between the skipper and Yash Rathod.
Vidarbha Looking To Stretch Lead Past 400
Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian took two wickets. Shardul Thakur also took a wicket dismissing Atharva Taide the opener. Mulani and Kotian have given away over 60 runs in their spell so far.
Post the lunch session, Mumbai will look to bowl out Vidarbha as quickly as possible with them inching closer to a lead of 350 runs. Mumbai being the defending champions of the Ranji Trophy should look to chase down 350 on the final day of the match.
With Mumbai set to chase a big score, their batters will need to step up this time around. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube all of whom will need step up in the second innings after they could not score much in the first innings. SKY and Dube scored a duck in their first innings and thus the pressure is on them also to produce the runs.
While Mumbai will be on the lookout to bowl out Vidarbha as soon as possible, Vidarbha will look to get past their lead over 400 and make it tougher for Mumbai in the chase.
