Points Table Details

Following their 14 matches in the league stage, the primary goal for all 10 IPL teams is to secure a spot among the top four in the points table.

Achieving a position within the top two is considered a secondary objective, as it offers an additional opportunity to reach the IPL Finals.

The ranking on the IPL points table is determined by the points each team earns. In instances where teams are tied in points, their rankings are decided based on the "Net Run Rate" (NRR).

Regarding the rules for earning points on the IPL points table for 2023:

- A victory awards a team 2 points.

- In the event of an abandoned match or one that concludes without a result, a team earns 1 point.

- A loss results in 0 points for the team.

The Net Run Rate plays a crucial role in finalizing the standings when multiple teams accumulate the same number of points.

The NRR for a team is calculated by taking the difference between 'the total runs scored by the team per over faced' and 'the total runs conceded per over bowled' throughout the tournament.
