Babar Azam's lean patch continues as Pakistan star fails in National T20 Cup

Babar Azam PAK news

Babar Azam's string of low scores continued as he was dismissed for just (22) runs in the National T20 Cup 2025. Playing for Lahore Blues on Tuesday, March 18, the Pakistan star batter failed to get his team off to a good start against Karachi Whites. Chasing 172, Azam's strike rate was again the talking point as he scored those 22 runs in 17 balls.

Often, the strike rate has been the biggest concern for Azam in the game's shortest format. This time also the batter did not try to show intent in the power play. Lahore eventually lost the match by 37 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Pakistani star, who had come into the domestic T20 Championship on the back of a poor run in the Champions Trophy, failed to get going for Lahore when they were heavily banking on him to come good.

Babar Azam in the spotlight as wretched run with bat continues

After being overlooked for the T20 series against New Zealand, the National T20 Cup was a strong chance for the former Pakistan captain to be amongst the runs, and remind the PCB of his match-winning skills. That was not to be in the first game as Azam's wretched run with the bat has continued in domestic cricket as well.

Azam is available to play only a few matches for Lahore, as he will depart to New Zealand for the team's three-match ODI series.
