The 10th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is set to get underway on June 12 in England and Wales, bringing together the world's best teams in the shortest format of the game.
The previous edition, held in the UAE, saw New Zealand lift the trophy after defeating South Africa in the final, becoming Women's T20 World Cup champions for the first time. As the tournament returns, several teams will fancy their chances of going all the way.
Six-time champions Australia remain the most successful side in the competition's history, while hosts England, India, South Africa, West Indies, and defending champions New Zealand are all expected to be strong contenders for the title.
ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Participating Teams
A total of 12 teams will compete in this year's tournament. Hosts England qualified automatically, while India, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, and New Zealand secured their spots through their ICC rankings.
The remaining places were filled through the qualification pathway, with Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands booking their tickets to the marquee event.
ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Format of Play
The 12 teams have been divided into two groups of six. During the group stage, each team will face the other sides in its group in a round-robin format.
At the end of the group stage, the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals. The winners of the two semi-finals will then meet in the final to decide the Women's T20 World Cup champion.

A total of 33 matches, including knockouts, are scheduled across seven premium venues in England and Wales, with the Final set to take place at the home of cricket, Lord's.
