Mandhana Era Begins: India Women Host Zimbabwe in Historic T20Is

India's Smriti Mandhana era begins! Catch the historic first T20I series vs Zimbabwe in Raipur. Key details, playing XIs, and more.

A new chapter in Indian women's cricket commences as Smriti Mandhana takes the helm as full-time captain for the inaugural T20I series against Zimbabwe. This marks the first bilateral series between the two nations, commencing Friday in Raipur.

Mandhana, who officially assumed captaincy in October, will lead a squad featuring experienced players like Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Shafali Verma. The series offers a crucial platform for the team to refine its T20 strategies and for emerging talents to showcase their abilities.

Zimbabwe, captained by Josephine Nkomo, arrives for this historic tour aiming to gain valuable experience against a formidable opponent. Their recent series against the West Indies has prepared them to test their mettle against India's strong bowling and batting lineup.

The pitch at Raipur is anticipated to offer good bounce and carry, potentially favoring batters once settled, though early movement could challenge fast bowlers and spinners might influence the middle overs.
