Raja Patidar led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden IPL title earlier this year. However, none of this would have been possible without the affirmation of Virat Kohli, who has been playing for the franchise ever since IPL’s inception back in 2008.

It took 18 years for RCB to win their first IPL title. Kohli saw all the ups and downs the franchise faced over the years and still decided to stick with them. His commitment for RCB was a great example of loyalty in cricket, especially in franchise cricket.

Virat Kohli scored 657 runs in IPL 2025 at an average of 54.75 in 15 games and his runs were pivotal to RCB winning the title. He played a key role in RCB getting to the final alongside Phil Salt.

Brilliant To Have Virat Kohli's Blessings - Mo Bobat

Meanwhile, now with RCB being IPL Champions, RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, spoke about Virat Kohli’s role in Rajat Patidar being named the captain before the start of the season.

"We spoke with Virat Kohli that Patidar was going to be the new captain and Virat said, '100% I'm there to help. It's in all of our interests if Rajat succeeds. Let's give this a go'. It was brilliant to have Virat's blessing and his approval," Bobat told Cricbuzz.

The IP 2025 final was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB scored 190 runs for nine wickets batting first. Kohli top-scored for RCB, scoring 43 runs off 35 balls. With the ball, Krunal Pandya worked his magic as he took two wickets for 17 runs as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won by six runs. Krunal was named the Man Of The Match for his heroics.

Patidar also acknowledged Kohli’s contribution behind RCB’s success in IPL 2025 and he did not shy away from praising him after the side won the title.

As I said. I don't think anyone else deserves this as much as he (Virat Kohli) does. This is for all the fans," Patidar told reporters on the eve of IPL 2025 final.
