Sri Lanka Masters prevailed in the high-scoring encounter against Australia Masters as they won the match by three wickets at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara on Friday. This was their second win of the campaign, one that took them to four points.
Sri Lanka Masters now have four points alongside India and West Indies Masters in the tournament. Upul Tharanga scored 102 off 54 balls to set up the chase for Sri Lanka which was finally completed by the lower-order against Australia.
Tharanga scored his runs at a strike rate of almost 190. Sri Lanka Masters in their chase, lost skipper Kumar Sangakkara (2 off 5 balls). Ben Hilfenhaus dismissed him in the third over of the chase.

Tharanga continued to attack the Australian bowlers. He added a 153-run stand for the second wicket with Lahiru Thirimanne (53 off 34 balls). Together they brought the score from 13/1 in the third over to 166/2 in the 15th over. The Australian bowlers dismissed the middle-order batters cheaply, allowing them to bring their team back into the game.
However, Isuru Udana (15 off 6) and Seekkuge Prasanna (16 off 7) played timely cameos to help Sri Lanka complete the chase in the final over with four balls to spare. Udana was dismissed in the 18th over and Prasanna in the first ball of the 20th over. Sri Lanka needed just two runs to win in the final over and Chaturanga de Silva's six off Xavier Doherty sealed the game for the Lions.

In the end, it was an emphatic victory for the Sri Lanka Masters in this high-scoring match against the Australia Masters. Bowlers from both teams travelled the distance in this match. Finally, it was Sri Lanka who kept their cool in the final over and won the match.
The win has taken them to the second position of the points table as their NRR is better than that of the West Indies Masters who are also on four points. India Masters continue to top the table as they have the best NRR (+2.461). Barring South Africa Masters, every other team has played at least two games each.
