Team India will tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series, with the first Test scheduled to be played from August 15 to August 19 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
The action will then move to Colombo, where the second Test will be held from August 23 to August 27 at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC). Both matches are set to begin at 10:00 AM IST.
India Return to Sri Lanka for Their First Test Tour Since 2017
The last time India toured Sri Lanka for a Test series was in 2017, when they registered a historic 3-0 clean sweep under the leadership of Virat Kohli.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, are currently touring the West Indies for a Test series. They lost the opening Test and will be aiming to bounce back in the second match before hosting India.
From the perspective of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), both India and Sri Lanka will be eager to secure crucial points as they look to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the WTC Final.
India's New-Look Test Team Faces a Tough Away Challenge
A lot has changed since India's last Test tour of Sri Lanka. The current Indian side will begin a new chapter without veteran stars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, all of whom were part of the 2017 tour. This series will therefore present a fresh challenge for India's next generation of cricketers.
Sri Lanka, however, have been formidable at home in recent years, producing impressive performances against top opposition. With spin-friendly conditions expected in both Galle and Colombo, the hosts will pose a strong challenge, setting the stage for a highly competitive subcontinent Test series.
