The Indian Premier League (IPL) has often given young talents opportunities to make a name for themselves, and the 2025 season has been no different. Among the many emerging players, Prince Yadav, representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has quickly become a talking point.Â
Prince, a young pacer from Delhi, has caught the attention of cricket fans and experts alike with his fast-bowling brilliance. While his debut IPL match against Delhi Capitals (DC) did not pan out in a way he would have wanted, his defining moment came in his second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Tasked with containing a formidable batting SRH line-up, he delivered a spell of 4-0-29-1, dismissing the dangerous Travis Head for 47. Head was in full flow, nearing a fifty, when the speedster bowled a pinpoint delivery to rattle his stumps, halting SRH’s momentum.Â
Prince also contributed to Heinrich Klaasen’s run-out, showcasing his alertness on the field. His performance helped LSG restrict SRH to 190/9 and secure a five-wicket victory, their first of the season.
Who is Prince Yadav?
Born on December 12, 2001, Prince's cricketing roots trace back to Delhi’s competitive domestic circuit. His standout Delhi Premier League (DPL) campaign under LSG captain Rishabh Pant’s Purani Delhi-6 was the turning-point of his career. He took 13 wickets in the tournament, including a hat-trick.
While the fast-bowler had already made his Ranji debut for Delhi before the DPL, his first white-ball appearance for the domestic side came afterwards.Â
Representing Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 and the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, he picked up 11 wickets each, finishing as the team’s leading wicket-taker in both the competitions. His exploits in domestic cricket and the Delhi Premier League paved the way for his big break.Â
His IPL journey began as a net bowler for LSG in 2023, a stepping stone to his eventual debut in 2025, where he was signed by LSG for INR 30 lakh at the mega-auction.
