In what comes as a massive news for the Ireland women’s cricket team, they are set to play against England in a three-match ODI series in September next year.
The series has been given a green signal by both the boards and the series will eventually happen. Both teams played a three-match ODI series last year, with Ireland women winning the final ODI in a dramatic last-ball finish. The T20I series ended in a draw between the two sides.
Ireland recently played a three-match T20I and two-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, winning all the matches and completing a cleansweep. The series ended on July 28 with the final ODI match.

Ireland's Tour Of England In 2026 Confirmed
The matches will be played on September 1,3 and 6, scheduled in Leicester, Derby and Worcester. Ireland’s Director of Cricket, Richard Holdsworth, is very happy with the upcoming series as it comes under the International Women's ODI Championship. The matches will also act as a dress rehearsal for Ireland in their bid to qualify for the 2029 Women’s ODI World Cup.
“It is good to be able to announce these International Women’s Championship ODI fixture dates so early as it helps the team plan the rest of their summer in 2026. These are significantly important matches as they are part of the 2029 ODI World Cup qualification structure. We are also pleased to be based in the Midlands and happy that all venues are so close to each other” he said.

England Women Recently Lost White-Ball Series Against India.
Talking about England, they took on the Indian women’s team in a white-ball series recently and ended up losing both the T20Is and the ODI series. They lost the T20Is 3-2, while the ODIs 2-1. India won the third ODI by 13 runs on the back of Harmanpreet Kaur’s hundred to win the ODI series. Meanwhile, England's white-ball skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt displaced Smriti Mandhana as the number one ODI batter after the series ended.
