The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, is a multi-purpose venue mainly used for football and other sports. It is named in the honour of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

In 1992, it hosted six first-class cricket matches when Uttar Pradesh played against the Railways team. In 1993, the stadium was the venue for a Youth Test match between India Under-19 and England Under-19. In 2013, it hosted a match between the visiting Nepal cricket team and the Ghaziabad District Cricket Association. 

More recently, the stadium gained attention for hosting the 2023 Legends Cricket Trophy. This T20 tournament featured several retired cricket stars such as Yusuf Pathan, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina, and drew a good response from fans in the city.

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Test Records and Stats

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium has not hosted a Test match so far. However, in 1993, a Youth Test between India Under-19 and England Under-19 was played at this ground. England U-19 won that fixture by an innings and four runs.

England U-19 opener Mathew Dowman top-scored in the match. He smashed 142 runs in the first innings as the England team declared at 451/8.

From India, Pankaj Dharmani played a 73-run knock. India finished their first innings at 251/10 and were asked to follow on. From England, Mark Broadhurst picked up four wickets in the first innings. He bagged four more wickets in the second innings, recording the figures of 8/148 in the match, the best by a bowler in that clash.

In India’s second innings, Prayan Dave amassed 67 runs but he did not receive support from the other batters. India got bundled out at a score of 196, losing the match by an innings and four runs.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is yet to get a taste of international cricket. The ground has only hosted domestic games and no ODI match has taken place here so far.

Like ODI cricket, the ground in Ghaziabad has not been ever used for a T20I. However, recently, a T20 tournament was played here. Famous Indian cricketers such as Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan, and many more took part in the league which featured retired cricketers.
