Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has slammed the England team post their ODI series loss to India. The visitors lost the T20I series 4-1 and then were whitewashed in the ODI series.

The series loss dampened England's confidence heading into the Champions Trophy. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri reasoned England's lack of practice sessions as the reason behind their loss in the series.

He believed that England had just one training session for the entire series and they were underprepared based on the conditions they played across venues. Kevin Pietersen also echoed Shastri's sentiments and agreed thet the visitors were indeed short of preparation.

Petersen took to Twitter on the matter and said that he was sent an article by a British journalist who said  England skipped the training because of “injuries" and “quick turnaround" between games.

"Just got sent an article where a leading UK journo has said that Shastri & I got it wrong last night when discussing England not training. Reason - injuries and quick turnaround between games…! Do me a f*****g favour! Stop writing about cricket if you’re going to write such rubbish" KP lambasted the English journalist by saying.

He further said that injuries are part and parcel of the game and that should not hinder them from practicing before matches.

"Injuries are part of sport and this schedule is like every bilateral series almost ever played. Injuries are NOT stopping batters from batting against net bowlers and learning the art of playing spin" Pietersen further wrote on his Twitter handle.

He concluded his statement by saying that England batters should improve their overall game against spin. He gave his own example to prove the point as well. England lost 42 out of the 78 wickets they lost to spin which hinted at their weakness against that particular kind of bowling.

Their problems will only increase as they will get to play on spin-friendly pitches in the Champions Trophy which is starting in Pakistan from February 19. However, Jos Buttler denied accepting that playing against spin is a problem for this England side. He also brushed aside the comments on the lack of training by saying that the effort from the players should not be questioned.

“I’m not sure that’s quite true, to be honest. We had a reasonably long tour, a few long travel days. There’s been a couple of times we’ve not trained, but we’ve certainly done plenty of training throughout the tour," Buttler said on his behalf.
