The 38-year-old Rohit Sharma recently underwent a fitness test at the Centre of Excellence, where he took both the YoYo Test and the Branco Test. He didn’t just pass the test he impressed everyone by securing high marks. It was also noted that everyone was left impressed by Rohit’s sharp physical presence and standout performance at the Centre of Excellence during the Branco Test in Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma, who is currently playing only in the ODI format, announced his retirement from Test cricket after an under-par performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025. After the conclusion of the IPL, the Indian captain was seen spending time with his family. In the meantime, he was also spotted practicing hard in the gym as he prepared for a return to the ODI team..

Despite a few rumours surrounding the skipper, particularly about the selectors possibly overlooking him ahead of the 2027 World Cup, the BCCI backed Rohit and added him to the squad. Now that he has cleared the fitness test, Rohit Sharma will feature in the three ODIs against Australia in October. Meanwhile, he could also be part of the India A squad for the three ODIs against Australia in Kanpur.

Along with Rohit Sharma, other players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna also performed well in the test. Notably, Prasidh Krishna was the top scorer in both the YoYo Test and the Branco Test.

Meanwhile, there has been no response yet from veteran batter Virat Kohli regarding participation in the fitness test. The BCCI had reportedly sent him a quiet reminder, as the test is mandatory for all contracted players to be considered for selection. Kohli, who is still active in ODI cricket, was recently seen practicing at Lord's a few weeks ago. However, his return to India for the fitness test is still under evaluation, as the batter has yet to respond to the BCCI.
