Team India, who was considered one of the favorites to win the tournament, had their hopes dashed after a disappointing loss to New Zealand. However, they bounced back with a competitive 6-wicket win against Pakistan in the second match. Though it seemed like a win, India has a problem going forward as their NRR is which is -1.217 which made India sit at the fourth position in the group.

Both teams entered the game with opposite results from their previous matches, with India coming in with a loss and Pakistan with a convincing win. Pakistan had momentum entering the game, but India usually performed better against Pakistan in the World Cup, which boosted the morale of Team India. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat at the slow surface of Dubai International Stadium. India made one change as Pooja Vastrakar was injured and replaced by Sajana Sanjeevan, who made her World Cup debut.

The match started with Renuka Singh bowling with the new ball. Pakistan managed to score only 29 runs off the powerplay and lost two wickets. Pakistan's captain managed a slow innings while wickets kept falling. Nida Dar then stitched a partnership with her captain to steady the ship, but Shreyanka Patil dismissed the struggling Pakistan captain, followed by Arundhati Reddy, who made her comeback after 3 years, and had a memorable game against Pakistan, dismissing key batter Nida Dar and claiming 3 wickets.  She was awarded the player of the match. Indian bowlers dominated the Pakistani batters, and Pakistan scored 105/8 in 20 overs, falling short of the par score by at least 20 runs.

The target felt achievable for the Indian team, but they had to be strategic, as the pitch provided little assistance for batters, except perhaps with the new ball. India's approach was straightforward: they took their time in the middle overs. Smriti Mandanna, who was struggling to find her rhythm, lost her wicket with a simple catch to Tuba Hassan, bowled by Sadia Iqbal.

In a surprising move, Jemimah Rodrigues was promoted ahead of Harmanpreet Kaur, despite the announcement that Kaur would bat at number three for this World Cup. This decision seemed tactical, given the slow nature of the pitch. Alongside Shafali Verma, who looked comfortable at the crease, Rodrigues formed a solid partnership, adding 43 runs together. Shafali was eventually dismissed for 32 runs off 35 balls.

When Kaur came in, she settled quickly and began finding gaps with ease. Just as India appeared to be inching closer to the target, Kaur encountered some neck issues after losing her balance while facing a delivery. The physios rushed out, and it was concerning to see her walk off the pitch, retiring hurt. Fans held their breath, hoping it wasn't a serious injury.

As India neared the target, their progress slowed unexpectedly, but they managed to secure the win on the penultimate ball of the penultimate over, defeating Pakistan by six wickets. It was a hard-fought victory, showcasing both the challenges and the resilience of the team.

Despite securing a win against Pakistan in the tournament, India is currently placed at the 4th spot in the Points table due to their poor run rate. They missed an opportunity to improve their run rate in the recent game. While batting, India was cautious not to repeat the mistakes made against New Zealand. However, after the 12th over, despite having two well-set batters, they failed to accelerate. Harmanpreet's late contribution with a decent strike rate saved the game for India. Although a win is a win, India needs to focus on improving their run rate in the upcoming matches against Australia and New Zealand. As for Pakistan, they have a healthy run rate, but their upcoming matches against New Zealand and Australia will be challenging, and they will need to play exceptionally well to produce positive results.
