Vidarbha won as many as eight games in the Ranji Trophy to make the final. They registered victories by big margins as well. In the semi-final against Mumbai, Vidarbha registered victory by 80 runs asking their opponents to chase above 400. Kerala won three games and drew as many as five games including the quarter-final and the semi-final to make their way to the final.

Two very opposite teams will be facing each other in the Ranji Trophy final. One team has been dominant throughout the campaign with their players performing in big games and winning by big margins. Karun Nair especially has been prolific so far scoring 642 runs at an average of 54.08. Yash Rathor (933) and Vidarbha skipper Akshay Wadkar (674) have been their other major contributors with the bat.

Kerala, on the other hand, has managed to scrape through to the final. On the final day, No.11 batter Arzan Nagwaswalla went for a lofted drive through the mid-wicket region but the ball cannoned off Salman Nizar's head - high into the air - before it was taken by Sachin Baby at first slip. The barest of margins, a two-run lead was enough to take Kerala into the final of the tournament. It will be interesting to see how they head into this big game and what body language they have throughout the final.
