A day after stepping away from Test cricket, star batter Virat Kohli reached Vrindavan with his better half, Anushka Sharma, on Tuesday, May 13. The powerful couple called on prominent spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj at Vrindavan Dham to seek his divine blessings. Both Anushka and Virat are known to be devotees of Swami Premanand Maharaj and have been in Vrindavan a lot of times. The former India captain took to Instagram on May 12 and penned an emotional note to call it quits from Test cricket.
In his 14 glorious Test career, the 36-year-old scored 9230 runs from 123 Test matches, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties in 210 innings. Kohli ended the Test format as India's fourth-highest run-getter, behind Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Rahul Dravid (13,265 runs), and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs).
Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma prioritize spirituality
It is to be noted that for the last three years, Virat Kohli and Anushka have often been spotted going to satsangs, spiritual shows, and attending Neem Karoli Baba's shows. The power couple makes it a point to prioritize spirituality whenever they get some free time from their busy schedules. During their stay in London, Kohli and Anushka also attend spiritual shows.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season set to resume on Saturday, May 17, Kohli made it a point to visit Vrindavan.
Virat Kohli's decision to step away from Test cricket more to do with personal reasons
Notably, while everyone thought Kohli decided to call it quits from Test cricket due to mental fatigue and a dip in form, the star batter's decision to step away had more to do with the BCCI 10-point dossier after India's shambolic performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which saw India lose 3-1. One of the points in the dossier was regarding family members' stay with a player, which should not exceed more than 14 days.
