Shubman Gill is not known to come across as an arrogant person off the field. The 25-year-old always greets his pears and competitors with a warm smile. However, a new video is going viral on social media, wherein we can see Gill is a bit animated and also seen giving a rather cold handshake to rival Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant.
The incident occurred after GT vs LSG game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the match, during the customary handshake, Gill was seen greeting Pant, and just when the latter was seen saying something, the former bluntly ignored the southpaw and went onto to greet the next player. Most of the fans commented on the video, sighting Gill's blunt ignore of LSG skipper.
Does Test captaincy be the reason for Shubman Gill ignoring Rishabh Pant?
For the unversed, both Shubman Gill and Pant are in contention to be named as the next Test skipper after Rohit Sharma's retirement for the longest format last week. The announcement on Test captaincy will be made by the Board on Saturday, May 23. It is likely that Gill will be named the skipper, however, fans cannot rule of Pant being the captain due to his phenomenal record in Tests so far.
Speaking about the GT vs LSG match, the latter comprehensively beat the Titans by 35 runs on account of Mitchell Marsh's blazing (117) runs. He was well supported by a blistering 50 by Nicholas Pooran. LSG registered their sixth victory in 13 matches. However, the win wont be enough as they are already ruled out the IPL 2025 Playoff Contention.
