With just a few overs left in the day, Ashwin returned to bowl, much to the relief of Indian fans. He bowled a tidy maiden over. Bumrah then bowled the final over of the day, bringing Day 1 to a close with Australia at 86/1.
Despite challenging conditions, McSweeney and Labuschagne batted intelligently, capitalizing on India’s inability to make full use of the early swing and seam movement. Australia’s day ended on a high note, with their top-order batters showing resilience and Mitchell Starc’s spectacular 6-wicket haul earlier in the day serving as the highlight of the match.
