Jofra Archer was at his menacing best against Afghanistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy match in Lahore. The right-arm pacer's triple strike has given England an early advantage in their do-or-die clash. Archer's quick pace was too hot to handle for Rahmanullah Gurbaz (6), Sediqullah Atal (4), and Rahmat Shah (4) as Afghan top-order batters failed to make an impact.
England skipper Jos Buttler bowled Archer for six straight overs in his first spell. The pacer got the ball to swing and seam both ways and made life difficult for Afghanisthan's top-order batters. He was economical in his first spell and hardly put a foot wrong. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first Afghanistan got off to a worst possible start as they were placed 37 for the loss of three wickets inside the power play.
However, since those three early strikes, Afghans have managed to show some fightback through Ibrahim Zadran and skipper Shahidi's brief partnership.
Afghanistan manage to recover after Archer's early assault
As of now, Zadran is looking good to reach 50. He has so far managed to negate the early storm of Archer and is playing the anchor role. However, he needs to bat long if Afghanistan have to post a challenging score on a good Lahore deck.
