West Indies women lost by 17 runs to England women in the third and final T20I in Chelmsford to get clean sweeped in the T20I series. England won the first two games by 9 wickets and 8 wickets respectively.
Despite Hayley Matthews scoring 71 runs off 54 balls none of the other batters even crossed 20 in a run-chase of 145. As many as seven WI batters scored in single digits in the chase.
Matthews picked up three wickets with the ball and then came back to score 71 runs with the bat but did not get any support from the rest of his batters.

Hayley Matthews' All-Round Effort In Vain For WI-Women
Earlier in the game, England posted a total of 144 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs. Heather Knight, the former skipper, scored an unbeaten 66 runs off 47 balls. Nat Sciver-Brunt the current skipper, scored 37 runs off 40 balls. Amy Jones scored 22 runs off 17 balls in the back end of the innings to push England closer to 150.
At the halfway mark, the total looked like a below-par one. Matthews took three wickets and Zaida James and Jahzara Claxton took one each.
Set to chase 145 to win, the West Indies women kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Matthews held fort at one end, but saw herself running out of partners at the other end. Lauren Bell, Charlie Dean, Linsey Smith and Em Arlott picked up two wickets each. Dean bowled the final over of the game and in the end, West Indies finished at 127 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs to falling 17 runs short chasing 145 to win.
West Indies Look For Turnaround In Upcoming ODI Series
With the T20I series lost, West Indies women would look to bounce back in the three-match ODI series starting from May 30. Matches will be played in Derby, Leicester and Taunton.
