Former India captain Rohit Sharma was honoured with the Padma Shri, one of the country's highest civilian awards, by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Rohit Sharma was recognised for his remarkable contribution to Indian cricket and his successful tenure with the national team, during which he led India to two ICC titles. The veteran cricketer attended the ceremony alongside his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, who proudly watched him receive the prestigious honour.
With Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur being conferred the award this year, the total number of Indian cricketers to have received the Padma Shri has risen to 42.
Since making his international debut in 2007, Rohit has earned numerous accolades and made an immense contribution to Indian cricket. The Padma Shri further cements the legacy he has built over nearly two decades on the cricket field.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Rohit expressed his gratitude to everyone who played a significant role in shaping his career and reiterated his commitment to bringing glory to the nation.
"Receiving the Padma Shri is a very special moment for my family and me. I thank the Government of India for this honour. I am also grateful to all those people who have played an important role in my career. My effort to win matches and trophies for my country will always continue. Thank you. Jai Hind," he said in a video released by Doordarshan.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team's official Instagram handle congratulated the veteran batter on the achievement, writing:
