Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Ishan Kishan has stirred the pot with a playful jab at Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, adding a hint of spice to the diminishing India-Pakistan rivalry.
Kishan’s latest quip came during a casual chat with former umpire Anil Chaudhary, where he took a swipe at Rizwan’s animated on-field antics. The incident, which unfolded during a candid conversation with Chaudhary has set social media abuzz.
The exchange began when Chaudhary, engaged with Kishan and asked,
"You played so many games under my umpiring. You have grown up now. You also appeal when required. Earlier, you used to appeal a lot. How did this change come?"
Known for his quick wit off the field as much as his explosive batting on it, Kishan joked that if he starts behaving like Rizwan, then the umpire will not give a decision in his favour.
"I think umpires have become smart. If I appeal every single time, even decisions that are out they will give as not out. Instead, appeal once, appeal only when it’s actually out, and they will also have confidence that we are calling at the right time. Otherwise if I act like Mohammad Rizwan then you will never give me a decision," Kishan replied.

The context of Kishan’s comment revolves around Rizwan’s animated on-field persona, particularly his tendency to appeal vociferously and engage in dramatic gestures behind the stumps.
As the clip of Kishan’s comment has gone viral, fans on both sides have joined in on the fun with some hailing his humor and others defending Rizwan’s passion.
