The build-up to the fifth and final Test between India & England has garnered a lot of steam after head coach Gautam Gambhir was spotted in an animated chat with the Oval pitch curator - the venue of the fifth Test. Lee Fortis, the person involved in creating the surface on Tuesday, July 29, has threatened to file a case against the coach.
The former India opener expressed his dissatisfaction with the facilities provided at The Oval just two days ahead of the fifth Test, starting on Thursday, July 31. While the conversation between Gambhir and the Oval pitch curator started on a friendly and polite note, things took a drastic U-turn when the former was seen animatedly finger-pointing towards the latter. India's head coach was also heard saying, You don't tell us what to do.”

The situation reached a tipping point as well, and both Gambhir and Fortis had to be separated as batting coach Sitanshu Kotak was seen as the peacemaker between the two. Later, Fortis hit back at the Indian head coach, saying, “You can go and report to whoever you want, but you can't tell us what to do.”
What went wrong between Gautam Gambhir and the Oval pitch curator, Lee Fortis?
While everyone is interested in knowing the root cause of the matter between Gambhir and Fortis, as of now, no one knows what exactly transpired between the two, which led to such a heated argument. Apart from Sitanshu, an Indian security head also intervened to separate the two from further damage. A press conference is set to be held later in the day, and it is almost guaranteed that someone will come and explain the situation that unfolded between Gambhir and Fortis.
