Netflix is all set to release a documentary on the India vs Pakistan rivalry in cricket over the years. It will be released on February 7, two weeks before the start of the Champions Trophy which is being hosted by Pakistan as well.
The tournament is all set to begin from November 19 with Pakistan playing the opening fixture against New Zealand in Karachi. Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore are the three venues finalised by the Pakistan Cricket Board for hosting the matches.
Meanwhile, the PCB is under pressure for the completion of the renovation of the stadiums. Preparations are pending across all the three venues to get them ready on time. Meanwhile, the ICC had given PCB a deadline to complete all the pending work in December and then again in January. In case the PCB fails to get the ground ready on time, Pakistan might lose out on hosting the tournament.
Meanwhile, just weeks ahead of the start of the the , Netflix is releasing a documentary of the famous on-field rivalry between India and Pakistan. The series has been directed by Chandradev Bhagat and Stuart Sugg.
'The Greatest Rivalry' will feature untold stories of the high intensity India vs Pakistan matches narrated by legends including Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Waqar Younis, Javed Miandad, Ravichandran Ashwin, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Shoaib Akhtar recalling their experiences and unveiling secrets.
"This documentary not only delves into a thrilling saga of sport and history but also fuels the rising excitement to see what chapter unfolds next, making it as relevant today as it is timeless... The series goes beyond the pitch, uncovering the personal stories, cultural undertones, and raw emotions that fuel one of the greatest rivalries in the world," the makers had said in a release.
Former India-Pakistan Cricketers Revisit Golden Rivalry
The promo of the documentary shows several iconic India vs Pakistan matches, including the 1996 World Cup, 2003 World Cup, 2011 World Cup semi-final, the 2007 T20 World Cup final, 2022 T20 World Cup match, the historic 2004-05 series, and the match where Javed Miandad smashed a six off the last ball to win the match.
Talking about the Champions Trophy, the Men In Blue will play all their matches in Dubai and the epic clash between India and Pakistan will be played on March 23, Sunday in Dubai. They kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and play the Kiwis next on March 2 after the Pakistan game.
Group A of the tournament features current Champions Trophy holders and hosts Pakistan, along with India, New Zealand and Bangladesh, while Group B features Cricket World Cup 2023 champions Australia, alongside Afghanistan, England and South Africa.
