India will take on West Indies in the second Test on Friday, October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The hosts won the first Test by an innings & 140 runs, and are firm favourites to win the second Test and seal the series 2-0. Meanwhile, the hosts can only hope that the Delhi surface does not spin like it did in Ahmedabad.
Notably, Indian spinners took the majority of the wickets, with the visitors failing to reach 200 in both innings. Batting has been a major letdown for West Indies, with the team not even able to post a challenging score to help their bowlers. This year, they also hit a new low by being shot down for 27.

IND vs WI: Match Preview
India have really managed to play well in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravi Ashwin. New players like Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar have grabbed their chances and have played boldly. Also, senior players like Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj have played vital roles in helping new skipper Shubman Gill ease into the role. The skipper has taken leadership as a fish takes to water, by leading from the front with a bat in hand.
In the England series, the 26-year-old scored 754 runs, while in the first Test, he scored a valuable 50 in India's first innings. The slight concern for the hosts is the low returns of Sai Sudarshan so far. In four Tests, the southpaw has managed to reach 50 only once. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Gill would be hoping the youngster comes good and cements his place at the pivotal number three spot.

Meanwhile, the visitors would be hoping to put up a challenging score with the bat in hand. Senior batter Shai Hope has so far not come good in the red-ball format since his return to the team. While his ODI record is phenomenal, the Windies would be expecting Hope to show the same form in Test cricket. The bowling lacked a bit of experience in the first Test owing to the absence of Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach. However, they would be hoping their spinners find same purchase just like Indian spinners in the first Test.
