Mumbai Indians (MI) were annihilated by Punjab Kings (PBKS), who confirmed their place in the Qualifier 1 with a seven-wicket win in the 69th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday.
Punjab Kings made easy work of the chase of 185 runs with Josh Inglis (73 runs off 42 balls) and Priyansh Arya (62 runs off 35 balls) making this completely one-sided.
This win propelled Punjab Kings to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, also guaranteeing their place in the Qualifier 1 of the season.
Josh Inglis, Priyansh Arya Demolishes Mumbai IndiansÂ
It was the Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis show in the run-chase. The duo did not let the Mumbai bowlers settle down, continuing their attack throughout the 109-run partnership for the second wicket.
Punjab Kings played a maiden in the powerplay off Deepak Chahar and even Jasprit Bumrah’s over gave away just one run. Prabhsimran Singh (13 runs off 16 balls) played most of these deliveries. He was struggling and the pressure eventually got to him as Bumrah dismissed him in the fifth over.
Prabhsimran’s dismissal turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Punjab. Inglis arrived at No. 3 and batted like a man possessed. He dealt in boundaries and took the pressure off Priyansh, who also complemented his partner.
The Kings needed 96 runs off 10 overs. Inglis smashed three consecutive boundaries off Ashwani Kumar in the 11th over, taking the game further away from MI.
Inglis completed his fifty in the 12th over off Hardik Pandya. Priyansh tonked a maximum in the same over and brought up his half-century as well. Even Bumrah was not spared by Priyansh as he also got smacked for a six.
Mitchell Santner got the better of Priyansh in the 15th over but his wicket was never going to be enough. Mumbai Indians needed a collapse and it did not happen.
After Inglis’ dismissal close to the win, captain Shreyas Iyer (26* runs off 16 balls) and Nehal Wadhera (2* runs off 3 balls) ensured no more hiccups as Punjab Kings romped home in the 19th over with seven wickets to spare.
Punjab Kings Confirm Top-Two Finish, Mumbai Indians to Play EliminatorÂ

On the other hand, MI will now have to go through a long route and play the Eliminator.
