IPL 2026 Mini Auction: Rules and Regulations
The auction pool features 359 cricketers, made up of 16 capped Indian players and 99 capped overseas players, all set to be bid on. Squads must include at least 18 players and can have no more than 25 in total, with a maximum limit of eight overseas players per team.
All ten IPL teams turned in their retention lists by November 15. Punjab Kings(PBKS) kept hold of 21 players from the previous season, the highest number among the franchises, with Mumbai Indians(MI) and Gujarat Titans(GT) close behind after retaining 20 players each.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) opted to retain only 12 players from the 2025 season, the fewest overall, leaving them with the greatest number of spots to fill at the auction.
The rule to be noted is that Teams will not have access to the Right to Match option(RTM), as the upcoming event will be conducted as a mini-auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) head into the auction with the biggest remaining purse at INR 64.30 crore, followed by Chennai Super Kings(CSK), who have INR 43.40 crore left to spend. On the other end of the scale, the Mumbai Indians have the smallest purse remaining, with just INR 2.75 crore available.

Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) have the most overseas slots available, with six spots open, while Delhi Capitals(DC) follow with five overseas openings. Chennai Super Kings(CSK), Gujarat Titans(GT), and Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) each have four overseas slots to fill. At the lower end, the Mumbai Indians(MI)and the Rajasthan Royals(RR) have the fewest overseas slots available, with just one each.
