New Zealand Women will face Sri Lanka Women in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Saxton Oval in Nelson on March 7. The first match between the two teams was abandoned due to rain.

In the series-opener, New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first. Debutant Bree Illing bagged two wickets. Jess Kerr and Suzie Bates claimed one scalp each. Sri Lanka's Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrama remained unbeaten on 66 runs. The downpour started when the visitors were batting on 147/5 in 36.4 overs and the play could not resume again.

New Zealand, who are already jolted by the unavailability of their key players, are seeing the situation worsen. In another concern, Lauren Down has been ruled out of the series due to a back injury. She is replaced by Izzy Sharp.
