The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 final has panned out in a way that has left everyone guessing. In a gripping contest between bat and ball, Vidarbha and Kerala are giving it their all in their bid to win the prestigious title.
The second session of Day 3 was dominated by Kerala, all thanks to their captain Sachin Baby, who carried on from where he left and kept the wheels turning. He currently stands undefeated at 82 runs and is helping Kerala make move towards gaining the pivotal first-innings lead, which could eventually decided the winner.
Sachin partnered with Mohammed Azharudden for a 59-run stand for the sixth wicket. While Azharudden seemed at ease when he was batting, he was ultimately outdone by Darshan Nalkande. The right-handed batter was given LBW and perished after scoring 34 runs.

DRS Saves Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena
Kerala ended up winning the session. However, things could have gone either way. Sachin Baby survived with the help of DRS. The umpire had had adjudged him LBW in the 76th over on a Parth Rekhade delivery. The ultra edge showed a spike and the Kerala captain heaved a sigh of relief.
Similar situation occurred in the 86th over when Jalaj Saxena was also given LBW but the umpire had to overturn the decision because the ball was missing the leg-stump.
Sachin and Saxena batted through the rest of session with Kerala’s score reading 298/6. Vidarbha currently lead by 81 runs.
An important session awaits. Both Vidarbha and Kerala would fight to attain the first-innings lead as in the context of this match, we could get a winner based on it.
