Kerala captain Sachin Baby shone in the morning session of Day 3 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. Sachin started the day with Aditya Sarwate, who looked in fine touch on Thursday when he put Kerala in a commanding position with his half-century.
While Sarwate was dismissed early this morning by Harsh Dubey, Sachin held up one end, ensuring that Kerala do not fall behind by much in the summit clash. It was not an easy going for him as the Vidarbha bowlers made him work hard for runs and rarely were off their radar. However, the Kerala skipper did not bog down from the challenge and scored a patient fifty.
Sachin Baby Plays Captain’s Knock
Sachin began his day with a boundary. For someone, who was starting afresh, this was all that he needed. As the nerves settled down, it helped him gain confidence
Sarwate, on the other end, was struggling to find his rhythm. He was batting like a dream yesterday but was not like himself on the morning of Day 3. The right-handed batter went into a shell as the runs dried up for him. He got a lifeline when Danish Malewar dropped him at gully off Harsh Dubey in the 52nd over. But he could not add much to his score as eventually Dubey dismissed him for 79 runs.
Meanwhile, Sachin completed his fifty, his fifth in this Ranji season. He was joined by Salman Nizar at the crease.

In the last over of the session, Dubey gave Vidarbha another important wicket. While Kerala were cruising, the left-arm spinner showed the exit door to Nizar, who was hit on his pads and was adjudged LBW.
At the time of writing, Kerala are at 219/5 with Sachin batting on 52 runs. Vidarbha currently lead by 160 runs.
