Records tumbled on Day 1 of the Vijay Hazare Plate as teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the fastest batter to score 150 runs in List-A cricket in 59 balls. The youngster shattered AB de Villiers’ long-standing record, scoring a breathtaking 190 off just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.

Sooryavanshi, Loharuka and Gani Star in Historic 551/7 Total

The match witnessed a historic batting onslaught as Bihar posted the highest-ever List-A total, smashing 551/7, surpassing Tamil Nadu’s previous record of 506/2 set in 2022.

The monumental total was powered by Sooryavanshi’s explosive knock, along with a rapid 116 off 56 balls from Ayush Loharuka. Bihar skipper Sakibul Gani added to the carnage by smashing the fastest List-A century, reaching the landmark in just 32 balls.

Sooryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Journey Across Formats

Sooryavanshi also cleared the ropes 15 times, and in the process became the youngest player to score a List-A century, breaking a record previously held by Zahoor Elahi, who achieved the feat at the age of 15 in 1986 while playing for Railways.

The young batter’s record-breaking run extends well beyond this tournament. Sooryavanshi has now registered centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, IPL, Youth ODIs, Youth Tests, and for India A. He also grabbed headlines in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, hammering a blistering 171 off just 95 balls.
