Karnataka’s young cricketing sensation Kashvi Kandikuppa, popularly known as Uma Kashvi, has created history by becoming the youngest player ever signed by a Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchise. Delhi Capitals secured the services of the 15-year-old all-rounder for INR 10 lakh on Wednesday, October 28, marking a significant milestone in her promising cricket career.

At just 15 years and 202 days old, Kashvi surpassed Haryana’s Deeya Yadav, who joined Delhi Capitals at the age of 16 last year. The franchise has once again demonstrated its willingness to invest in emerging talent and provide young cricketers with opportunities at the highest level.

She made headlines in the latest BCCI Women’s Under-15 One-Day Tournament, scoring an impressive 516 runs at an average of 172. Her remarkable campaign included three centuries and a half-century.

According to Deccan Herald, she has accumulated more than 13,000 runs in 530 matches across Karnataka, including 24 centuries and 68 half-centuries. She has also captained Karnataka’s Under-15 side and led Bengaluru Blasters in the Maharani Trophy.

During the June-July 2026 series against Sri Lanka, she showcased her all-round abilities, taking a wicket in four of her five listed appearances across the one-day and T20 formats.

From Academy Training to the WPL

Kashvi began playing cricket at seven and a half, initially focusing on fitness before developing her batting and bowling skills. She later joined NICE Academy, where she gained better training opportunities and exposure.
