The prolonged uncertainty surrounding the 2025 Asia Cup 2025 is causing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to face severe financial difficulties. The tournament's future is still up in the air, and if it doesn't proceed as scheduled in September, it might significantly reduce the PCB's projected revenue for the current financial year 2025-25.

PCB had projected earnings of around ₹8.8 billion from its share of revenues from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). A board insider revealed that PCB’s expected share from the ICC alone this year was around USD 25.9 million (approximately ₹7.7 billion).

India-Pakistan Tensions Put Asia Cup 2025 in Doubt
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been pushing to arrange a meeting with the six participating Asia Cup boards in Dhaka. However, most of the members have shown hesitation.
“The PCB met with plenty of resistance to the ACC scheduling the meeting in Dhaka. India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Oman, and a few other associate member boards were adamant about not travelling to Dhaka,” said a source familiar with the matter.

Originally, India was set to host the Asia Cup in 2025. But in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor and escalating border tensions, the BCCI has cut off Pakistan cricket broadcasts in India and stated that it’s not willing to play in the same group as Pakistan in future tournaments.
With that in mind, there’s talk that Pakistan’s Asia Cup matches could be moved to the UAE. However, there's no clarity yet on whether the tournament will take place at all.
While the PCB struggles with Asia Cup 2025 uncertainty and potential revenue losses, the BCCI continues to thrive financially. For FY 2023–24, BCCI recorded a whopping ₹9,741.7 crore in total revenue, with ₹5,761 crore coming from the IPL alone and ₹361 crore from other cricketing events like bilateral series.
