Prithvi Shaw backed his performance with the bat after he took three catches on the field at slips. This is also his first tournament since December 2024. In the meantime, he moved away from Mumbai to Maharashtra, looking to get consistent chances in domestic cricket.

Previously, Shaw was granted the NOC certificate from Mumbai to change teams in June. Not given opportunities at all, the discarded Indian batter wanted to make the move, which became one of the key decisions in his career.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years” Shaw said in a statement.

MCA President Mr. Rohit Pawar welcomed Shaw into the Maharashtra team hoping that it would revive the team. His contribution in this game certainly means that he has made the move in the right direction.

"We are delighted to welcome a player of Prithvi Shaw's calibre to the Maharashtra team. His inclusion adds tremendous strength to an already talented squad comprising experienced players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Mukesh Choudhary, and Rajneesh Gurbani. Shaw's international and IPL experience will be invaluable, especially for mentoring younger players in the squad. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the MCA Apex Council and the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for supporting this decision. Maharashtra Cricket Association stands firmly behind Prithvi in his new journey, and we wish him the very best for the seasons ahead” he said.

Shaw Last Played For India In 2021

It was way back in 2021 that Prithvi Shaw last played international cricket for India. He fell out of favour after playing five Tests, six ODIs and a T20I, with his last match for India coming in July 2021. He event went unsold in IPL 2025, making his case even worse. This timely knock for Maharashtra should bring him into notice once again.
