The Indian pacer picked up a back injury in the final Test against Australia in Sydney. He was taken for scans on day 2 of the Test match and he did not return to bowl during Australia's chase on day 3. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar stated that the team management will keep an eye on the pacer's fitness in the lead-up to the tournament.
Bumrah previously played an instrumental in India’s success at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Series after taking 15 wickets at a stunning average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17, helping India clinch the title.
