Delhi Capitals (DC) will battle it out with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. It is the clash between the top two teams in the points table. After an inauspicious start to the campaign, MI are back with a bang, managing to win three games on the bounce. Everything seems to be clicking for the WPL 2023 champions, and they would be keen to keep the winning momentum going.

While the Meg Lanning-led side DC are placed second on the points table, the three wins the team have managed to win so far have not been that convincing. Lanning, who always prides herself on leading from the front, has so far not been able to replicate the heroics of the WPL 2023 and 2024 seasons.

DC managed to beat MI in a thrilling match in Vadodara, but since that defeat, MI have managed to turn a corner by being ruthless and extremely competitive. MI's batting looks solid, with contributions from Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Amonjot Kaur. England's talismanic all-round Sciver-Brunt is the leading run-scorer of WPL with 254 runs from just four games. Her contributions at the top of the order has allowed Harman to bat freely in the middle order. The bowling also is looking in fine form for MI, with Sciver and Matthews leading the charge with seven wickets each.
On the other hand, DC would be banking on skipper Lanning to hit the top gear. It was the Lanning-Shafali Verma combo that was the cornerstone for DC's success. However, so far this season, runs have eluded both these star players. The lack of runs from the openers has resulted in middling returns from middle-order players like Jemimah Rodrigues, Kapp, and Annabel Sutherland. However, in the game against GG, DC promoted Jess Jonnasen up the order, and the move paid rich dividends as the southpaw scored a blistering 50.
It remains to be seen if DC backs Jonnasen at number three. The batting needs to fire for DC if they want to solidify their position at the top of the points table.
