Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions of the IPL having won the tournament last season. They won it under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy and under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir. KKR are now the third most successful franchise with three IPL titles to their name.
Heading into this season, they have changed everything. They have a new captain in Ajinkya Rahane. Venkatesh Iyer was named his deputy ahead of the start of the season. KKR will also kick off the campaign at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22.
There are significant chances in the coaching stagg as well with Dwayne Bravo named as mentor. KKR roped in Ottis Gibson as the Assistant coach ahead of the season. The management retained Chandrakant Pandit as head coach, Bharat Arun as the bowling coach, Carl Crowe as the spin-bowling coach and Biju George as the scouting and fielding coach. KKR play seven matches at home this year. The Qualifier 2 and the final are also scheduled to be played at the City Of Joy.
